Hyde Tosses Second One-Hitter in As Many Days as Softball Sweeps Amcats

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons softball (17-19, 9-5 GNAC) continues its winning ways with a sweep of Anna Maria College (10-20, 4-10 GNAC) on Thursday evening.
 
In between games of the doubleheader, the Sharks recognized their two seniors Raya Anderson and Leah Berdeen for their dedication to the Simmons softball program.
 
GAME 1: SIMMONS 8, ANNA MARIA 1
Junior right-hander Piper Kinney delivered a complete-game performance, allowing one unearned run on four hits while striking out 10 batters to grab her 11th victory of the season.
 
The Sharks took an early lead in the first inning with junior Emily Deleault scoring on senor Raya Anderson's triple. Moments later, Anderson scored on a sacrifice fly by Teagan Buckley. In the third inning the Sharks added to their lead.
 
 First-year Zoe Soule's two-run triple and subsequent run on a passed ball extended the lead to 5–0. Anderson's two-run homer in the fifth inning further solidified the Sharks' advantage. Deleault capped the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
 
GAME 2: SIMMONS 5, ANNA MARIA 0
For the second time in as many days, junior right-hander Ally Hyde tossed a complete-game one-hitter. Hyde climbed back to .500 on the season earning her fifth win, fanning five Amcats.

Simmons took an early 3–0 lead. Anderson scored on Soule's single, and Trinity Payne's two-run single brought in Buckley and Soule.
In the bottom of the second, the Sharks added to their lead. Deleault reached base and scored on Anderson's infield single, extending the lead to four. Four innings later, in the sixth, junior Emery Kreidel-Reimer scored on a fielding error, finalizing the score at 5–0.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Raya Anderson set the program all-time career stolen bases record with steal in the home half of the first inning.
  • Anderson went 5-for-7 with a triple and a homerun and four RBI on the evening.
  • Junior right-hander Ally Hyde tossed her second one hit shutout in as many days to earn her fifth victory.
  • Junior right-hander Piper Kinney earned her 11th win of the season, striking out 10 Amcats in game one.

Simmons returns to the diamond on Sunday, April 27 when they travel to Standish, Maine for face Saint Joseph's College of Maine. First pitch at noon.
