BRIGHTON, Mass. – Stepping on the court this afternoon to open up the 2025-2026 season, Simmons University Tennis welcomed the Hawks of Roger Williams University (RWU) to Daly Field where the visitors defeated the Sharks, 6-1.
How It Happened
- Emilie Lapointe and Masha Shutts teamed up in No. 1 doubles to take down their Hawk counterparts by a score of 6-3. However, RWU secured victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to claim the overall doubles point.
- RWU clinched the victory after winning the opening three contests in singles, but the Sharks continued to fight. Shutts nearly bested her opponent in No. 1 action (6-2, 7-6, 10-4), while Lapointe eliminated the shutout with her gritty victory in Not. 2 singles (6-2, 2-6, 10-4).
