Sharks Nearly Stage Comeback Over Chargers

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Simmons University Field Hockey traveled up to New Hampshire to play the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College (CSC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Sharks fell behind early and nearly mounted a comeback, but fell 3-2.

How It Happened
  • The Chargers struck first in the opening frame before the Sharks quieted the home team for the remainder of the frame.
  • CSC added one more less than two minutes into the second to lead 2-0. Keeper Haley Bright became a brick wall, making three critical saves to leave the score at 2-0 at halftime.
  • After a scoreless third, Nora Desrosiers split the deficit in half after a pass from Katy Paveglio (2-1). Two minutes later the home team regained the two score advantage (3-1). Not backing down, the Sharks' Penelope Long found teammate Paveglio to come within one, but the Chargers were able to hold on for the narrow win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Katy Paveglio recorded her first collegiate game with both a goal and an assist today.
  • First year Nora Desrosiers has now scored a goal in three straight games.
  • The Sharks play next on Wednesday, October 1 at 5 p.m. against the Regis College Pride at Daly Field.
