BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University returned to Daly Field to host another Vermont team on the weekend as the Sharks played against the Vermont State-Lyndon Hornets. The Sharks bested their opponents in both matches, first by a score of 6-1 and then 7-0 in the second contest (first contest counted as a conference win).
Match One
- The Sharks secured the overall doubles point after Amoli Vad and Masha Shutts blanked their No. 1 counterparts, 6-0. Meanwhile Grace Pluff and Katelyn Bruce won due to retirement.
- No. 1 Vad as well as No. 2 Emma Parsons won by identical scores of 6-0, 6-0 in singles. The Hornets secured a win in No. 3 action due to retirement, but the Sharks matched that with a victory on the No. 4 court due to retirement. Simmons also claimed wins in No. 5 and No. 6 play by default to come out with the 6-1 win.
Match Two
- In similar fashion to the early match, the Sharks' Vad and Shutts came out on top, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles. Then, Pluff and Bruce won by retirement in No. 2 action to earn the doubles victory.
- Shutts, Emilie Lapointe, and Parsons all collected matching tallies, again on their respective singles courts, 6-0, 6-0. Pluff also was victorious due to retirement while Simmons was handed two more wins by default for the 7-0 win.
