Simmons Returns To Action At Suffolk Ice Breaker Challenge

BRIGHTON, Mass – Simmons University Track & Field kicked off second semester with the Suffolk Ice Breaker Challenge at the TRACK at New Balance. The large field comprised of NCAA student-athletes across all divisions from a handful of the top programs in the region.

By The Numbers
  • Isatu Fofanah climbed into the top-25 out of 79 runners in the 60m dash with a time of 8.31. Then, against DIII constituents, Fofanah registered the fifth best time.
  • Isabel Deptula as well as teammate Carolyn Dorman cracked the top-15 in the 400m dash with times of 1:09.32 and 1:10.20, respectively.
  • Long distance runner, Hannah Bergeron crossed the finish line of the 1000m run with a time of 3:41.40 which was just over two seconds over the program record.
  • In the mile, Jaden Johnson made her indoor debut as a Shark with the eighth best time in DIII and 31st overall out of the 57 runners (5:44.97).
  • First year Alina Albuja competed in the long for the first time representing Simmons and jumped 4.21m.
