Sharks Navigate Past Buccaneers, 2-0

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Soccer struck twice in the first half to secure a 2-0 shutout victory over the visiting Mass. Maritime Academy (MMA) Buccaneers tonight at Daly Field. The win marked the Sharks' second of the season.

How It Happened
  • In the ninth minute, Grace Nostrant ripped in a cross from the left side into the box, finding Gabriella Almonte, who one-timed it into the back of the net to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead.
  • With just under five minutes remaining in the first half, Lauren Krupnikoff sent a ball into the box from the right sideline. A Buccaneers defender stopped the pass, but the ball fell directly to Mikaela Marie Javar, who finished to extend the Sharks' lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.
  • Both teams threatened in the second half, but neither could find the back of the net as the Sharks preserved the shutout to secure the 2-0 victory.
