BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball welcomed the Beacons of UMass Boston to the Holmes Sports Center this evening for a non-conference match-up. The Sharks took the opening set, but the visitors battled back to earn a 3-1 victory.

How It Happened

• The teams traded short runs early in the opening set, with neither side gaining a decisive edge. Trailing 18-15, the Sharks strung together five straight points to take a 20-18 lead before closing out the set with a 25-21 win.
• The second set featured back-and-forth action, with the teams trading points throughout. Tied at 20-20, the Beacons closed out the set with five consecutive points to even the match at one set apiece with a 25-20 victory.
• The third set followed a similar pattern, with both teams battling for control. UMass Boston began to pull away, but the Sharks responded to tie the score at 20-20 once again. The Beacons, however, came through with another five-point run to take the set, 25-20, and move ahead 2-1.
• UMass Boston jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the fourth set before Simmons began to chip away at the deficit, closing the gap to 11-7 and then 12-10. The Beacons pulled away down the stretch, taking the set, 25-16, to secure the 3-1 victory.

Beyond The Box Score

• Keagan Serverius recorded a season-high 11 digs and added four service aces.
• Hannah Pridgeon surpassed the 200-dig mark for the fourth consecutive season.
• The Sharks continue their non-conference schedule on Friday night when they host the Roger Williams University Hawks at 7 p.m. at the Holmes Sports Center.
