Sharks Dominate In 4-1 Victory Over Raiders

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Field Hockey hosted the Rivier University Raiders today on a sunny October morning in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action where the Sharks scored early and never looked back for the 4-1 win.

How It Happened
  • After controlling the tempo from the start, the home team struck first after Lilly Taglieri led teammate Ava Kahl for the first goal of the game. Not satisfied, the Sharks struck again in the final seconds, as Monica Scarbrough knocked in a pass from Hailey Brisson to make it a 2-0 ball game.
  • Rivier tried to pick up ground in the second but were halted by the Simmons' defense who made three stops backed by Jamila Mohamed to keep the Sharks on top 2-0 at halftime.
  • In the third, Alex Wemple fired the ball to Kahl who knocked in her second of the afternoon to widen the gap to 3-0.
  • The Raiders were able to sneak their way on the board early in the fourth quarter but the Sharks regained their three-score cushion with a Wemple tally to come out with the 4-1 win.

  • First-year Monica Scarbrough netted her first collegiate goal.
  • Ava Kahl recorded her first two-goal game since her rookie campaign when she did it against Elms College.
