Cadets Escape Sharks' Fourth Quarter Push

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Simmons University Lacrosse team returned to Daly Field this evening to host the Norwich University Cadets in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. Despite a strong offensive push by the Sharks in the fourth quarter, the visitors were able to hold off for the win.

How It Happened
  • The visitors got on the board in the opening quarter after scoring four times to lead 4-0 going into the second.
  • Reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week, Emily Horn teamed up with her usual assist counterpart Kate Lawrence to put Simmons on the board early in the second. Norwich widened the gap to 6-1 before Everett Garner scored a man up goal with 4:05 to go in the half. The visitors added one more to bring the score to 7-2 at halftime.
  • Simmons book-ended the third quarter with goals to make it 10-4 heading into the fourth.
  • Norwich netted two quick goals in the fourth, looking to run away with it, but Simmons had other plans. Garner, Leah Finn and Horn fired in shots within a two minute span to close the deficit to 12-7. The Cadets stopped the bleeding with a goal before the Sharks went right back at it (13-9). However, Norwich scored once more to eliminate the threat and take the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Everett Garner booked a season-high five points tonight and also came within one of her season-high in draw controls with eight.
  • Emily Horn's three goals tonight marks the sixth time this season the first year has scored three or more goals in a game.
  • The Sharks travel up to Standish, Maine this weekend to take on the Monks of St. Joseph College (Maine) on Saturday, March 28.
