WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University softball standout Piper Kinney has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week, following a pair of dominant performances that helped lead the Sharks to a 3-1 record.

Kinney delivered two complete-game victories across 12.0 innings of work. The senior began the week with a commanding five-inning shutout against Emmanuel College, allowing just three hits while striking out nine in an 8-0 victory.

The right-hander followed up with another impressive outing on Senior Day against the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) on Saturday. Kinney went the distance in the 6-3 win, recording 11 strikeouts and allowing only one earned run.

Simmons will look to carry its momentum on the road this Saturday, April 18, when the Sharks face Rivier University in a GNAC doubleheader.
