Saints Hold Off Sharks In Conference Battle

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Lacrosse took the short trip across the street to square off against the Emmanuel College Saints in league play where the Saints defeated the Sharks, 18-12.

How It Happened
  • The Saints came out firing from all cylinders, racing to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.
  • However, the Sharks caught fire in the second, sparked by a goal from Bridget McNamara, a winning draw from Everett Garner, followed by a Lauren Krupnikoff goal all within a 35 second span. Emily Horn netted a free position goal at the 10:28 mark, and scored two more to knot the scoreboard up at 5-5. Emmanuel stopped the bleeding with the go ahead goal (6-5), but Simmons came right back as Leah Finn tied it up once again (6-6). The Saints were able to tack on two more goals to lead, 8-6 at halftime.
  • Simmons added one more to their side in the fourth, but the Saints were able to regroup to go on top, 14-7 to kick off the fourth.
  • Emmanuel widened the gap to 16-7 midway through the final period, but the Sharks did not let up, rocketing in, three straight goals within 60 seconds to cut the deficit to six. Down the stretch, the Saints were able to fend off any Shark comeback for the 18-12 win.
