BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Tennis returned to Daly Athletic Complex this afternoon for a home tilt against the University of New England (UNE) Nor'easters. The Sharks got the better of the Nor'easters to win by a score of 4-3.
How It Happened
- Opening doubles play with a win on the No. 1 court was Masha Shutts and Amoli Vad who took care of their counterparts, 6-1. Emma Parsons and Emilie Lapointe won by an identical score of 6-1 to claim the overall doubles point heading into singles.
- Shutts cruised in her top singles match, with a clean sweep of 6-0, 6-0 tallies to make it 2-0 in favor of the home team. UNE broke up the streak with a win in No. 6 singles, but Simmons finished off the afternoon with wins from Lapointe in the No. 2 position (6-2, 6-1), followed by a No. 3 Vad victory to clinch it (6-2, 6-3).
