Simmons Splits With Dean In Regular-Season Finale

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Returning to the diamond after a Friday night sweep, Simmons University Softball traveled to play the Dean College Bulldogs in their regular-season finale where the Sharks won game one, 5-2 and dropped a tight one in extra innings, 7-6.

Game One
  • Piper Kinney led off the first with a well earned walk before stealing second two batters later. With two down and runners on first and second, Emery Kreidel-Reimer singled to score Kinney and put Nevaeh Eth 60 feet from home. Teagan Buckley continued the two-out rally with another single as Kreidel-Reimer and Eth scored to make it a 3-0 game after one.
  • With two on and two out, Kinney ripped a single to score both Sharks to widen their lead to 5-0.
  • Dean was limited at the plate thanks to Kinney, but the Bulldogs were able to break through in the sixth to plate two (5-2), but the Sharks closed it out for the win.
Game Two
  • The Bulldogs struck first in their home half of the first and held that advantage until the top of the fourth.
  • An Eth single, followed by a Buckley sacrifice fly shifted the Sharks in front, 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
  • After a lead-off double, Dean was able to tie up the ball game in the home half of the fourth to make it 2-2.
  • In the sixth inning, Buckley booked her second RBI of the game with a single to center field to score teammate Eth (3-2). However, the Bulldogs responded right back to bring the score even once again. 
  • Simmons looked to build a comfortable three-run lead in the top of the eighth but the home team rallied to put a four spot on the board to win, 7-6.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Sharks have the No. 1 seed in the north division on lock, but will await to official pairing release from the conference office after games conclude tomorrow.
  • Piper Kinney earned her career-best 15th win from the circle in game one.
  • Emily Deleault booked her third perfect multi-hit game in the first game, going 3-3. Deleault most recently went 4-4 against USJ.
