Falcons Fly Over Sharks In Non-League Action

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Taking a break from league action, Simmons University Lacrosse traveled to play the Falcons of Fitchburg State University this evening where the home team topped the Sharks, 19-6.

How It Happened
  • Fitchburg struck first with a goal 33 seconds after the opening draw. Simmons answered back through with two straight tallies to go on top, 2-1. The Falcons tied it up at 2-2 before the Sharks doubled up the home team, 4-2 with 5:55 to go in the high-scoring first quarter. Fitchburg, however, found the back of the net three times in the final minutes to regain the 6-4 advantage.
  • The home team put an eight-spot on their side in the second to make it a 14-4 game at the break.
  • Coming out of a scoreless third for the Sharks where they held the home team to just three goals, Simmons scored twice more early in the fourth quarter to match the Falcons' two goals in the frame.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Caroline Fleischhauer recorded a season-high three ground balls.
  • The Sharks stay on the road this weekend for a league game against the Colby-Sawyer Chargers at noon.
