Sharks Clip Blue Jays To Remain In Winners Bracket

BRIGHTON, Mass. – On day two of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pod A Tournament, the Simmons University Sharks took on the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). The Sharks rallied in the fifth to secure the 3-1 victory.

How It Happened
  • USJ struck first in the top of the second, advancing a runner to third on a double before bringing her home on a sacrifice fly.
  • With two down and two on in the bottom of the fifth, first year Abigail Carvalho laced one through the left side, sending pinch runner Jocelyn Harms around to score (1-1). Continuing with the momentum, Zoe Soule ripped one down the left field line to plate Emily Deleault for their first lead of the day (2-1). Simmons' two out rally was kept alive as Nevaeh Eth singled back up the middle to score classmate Carvalho and make it a 3-1 ball game.
  • Although the Blue Jays kept knocking at the door, Piper Kinney did not allow a runner to get past second past en route to the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Zoe Soule now has three RBI's in the first two playoff games for the Sharks.
  • No. 1N Simmons squares off against the No. 4N Emmanuel College Saints tomorrow at noon at Daly Field.
