GNAC Softball Championship Series Preview

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The stage is set for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Championship Series as the No. 1 North seed Simmons University Sharks welcome the No. 1 South seed Albertus Magnus College Falcons to Daly Field this weekend.

The best-of-three series will determine the 2026 GNAC Champion and the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Simmons advanced to championship weekend after earning the GNAC North title and going unbeaten through pod play, including their fourth straight victory of the season over Emmanuel College in the Pod A Championship. The Sharks enter the weekend looking to capture the program's third GNAC Championship in the past four years, having won it all in 2023 and 2024.

Albertus Magnus secured the GNAC South title to earn its spot in the championship series. The Falcons will look to claim their first GNAC Championship since 1997. Albertus Magnus last appeared in the GNAC Championship Series in 2015.

Both programs have put together impressive seasons on their way to championship weekend, setting up a match-up between the conference's top seeds from the North and South divisions. During the regular season, Albertus Magnus had the upper hand with a sweep over the Sharks on the Falcons' home turf back in early March to open the conference action. However, the Sharks hold a 25-13 record in all-time meetings against the two squads.
