Engineers Draw Up Win Over Sharks In Season-Opener

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Simmons University Field Hockey team made the short trip across the river to face MIT this evening. The Engineers scored twice in each half to earn a 4-0 victory over the Sharks in the season-opener.

How It Happened
  • MIT opened the scoring in the 11th minute on a fast-break opportunity and carried a 1-0 lead into the second quarter before adding another goal on a cross in front of the goal to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
  • Haley Bright continued to be a brick wall in goal after the break, making eight saves in the third quarter alone while facing 14 shots and limiting the Engineers to two goals in the frame.
  • The Sharks' defense held MIT scoreless in the fourth quarter, led by four more saves from Bright to keep the Engineers from adding to their lead.

  • Bright recorded a career-high 19 saves in the contest.
  • The Sharks head to Pennsylvania this weekend for a pair of games, taking on Elizabethtown on Friday night before facing Lebanon Valley on Saturday.
