BEVERLY, Mass. – Simmons University Tennis took on the Thomas College Terriers today at the Bass River Tennis Club due to the weather. The Sharks were not phased by the change of scenery, rolling to a 7-0 win in league play.
How It Happened
- t was a clean sweep in doubles play as the No. 1 pairing of Masha Shutts and Amoli Vad secured a 6-0 shutout. Victoria McCrann and Ivy Cote followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles, while Emma Parson and Emilie Lapointe doubled up their counterparts, 6-3, at No. 2.
- The Sharks continued to dominate in singles play, winning all six matches. Lapointe clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles after Cote and Vad each earned straight-set victories.
- In the final match to finish, Grace Burke battled back after dropping the opening set and earned a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 comeback victory at No. 5 singles.
Simmons looks ahead to Wednesday, September 16 as the Sharks host UMass Boston at 3:30 p.m. at Daly.
