Dutchmen Handle Sharks In Saturday Action

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Returning to action this afternoon, the Simmons University Field Hockey team took on Lebanon Valley College (LVC) on the Dutchmen's home turf. The hosts scored early and never looked back en route to a 6-0 victory.

How It Happened

  • Keeper Haley Bright recorded seven saves in nearly as many minutes before LVC broke through for its first goal of the day.
  • The Dutchmen added another score early in the second quarter before converting a penalty stroke to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
  • After LVC scored three times in the third quarter, Simmons tightened up defensively in the fourth and applied pressure at the other end, earning four penalty corners. Despite the late push, the Sharks were unable to break through as the score remained 6-0.

Beyond The Box Score

  • Bright posted another double-digit save performance, finishing with 14 stops.
  • Today's contest marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs in field hockey.
  • The Sharks return to Brighton to host Roger Williams University at Daly Field on Wednesday, September 9.
