Busy Second Half Ends In 2-2 Tie With Falcons

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Sharks returned to Daly Field this afternoon to take on the Fisher College Falcons in an out-of-conference match-up where the Sharks and Falcons ended in a stalemate, 2-2.

How It Happened
  • Simmons held the upper hand in shots (7-5) and penalty corners (4-3) during the opening half, but the scoreboard remained scoreless at the break.
  • Just over two minutes into the second half, Kaitlyn Marshall connected with Ella Askren, who buried the first goal of the game to give the Sharks a 1-0 advantage.
  • After generating two more shots on goal, Simmons doubled its lead when Taylor Clairmont found the back of the cage to make it 2-0.
  • Fisher responded by cutting the deficit in half before finding the equalizer in the 72nd minute to even the score at 2-2.
  • Both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock in the closing minutes, but neither side could find the game-winner as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Beyond the Box Score
  • First-years Taylor Clairmont and Kaitlyn Marshall each recorded their first collegiate point, with Clairmont scoring her first career goal and Marshall tallying her first career assist.
  • The Sharks will be home at Daly Field hosting the Thomas Terriers on Wednesday, September 9.
