BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball made the short trip to Emerson College this afternoon for a tri-match against the host Lions and the Nichols College Bison. The Sharks opened the day with a sweep of Nichols before falling to Emerson to split the afternoon.

Simmons vs. Nichols

• A pair of Addison Evans aces put Simmons on top, 5-1 early before the Sharks widened the gap to 10-3 off of an ace from Kira Buonopane. Down the stretch Sophia Scott slammed down two timely kills en route to the 25-17 win.
• With Simmons leading, 17-15, the Sharks took advantage of three straight errors from the Bison to take the 20-15 advantage before closing it out 25-16.
• Locked up at 13-all, Simmons scored four straight to propel the Sharks to the overall sweep, 25-18.

Simmons vs. Emerson

• The Sharks and Lions traded points early before the home team pulled away for a 25-11 win in the opening set.
• Simmons trimmed the deficit to three points at 9-6 in the second frame, but Emerson gradually extended its lead en route to a 25-17 victory.
• Trailing 12-7 in the third set, the Sharks battled back to within one at 12-11 midway through the frame. The score remained tight until the Lions used an 8-1 run to seal the match with a 25-17 win.

Beyond The Box Score

• Addison Evans recorded her first double-double of the season with her 11 digs and 10 kills against Nichols. 
• Carolina Rodriguez reached double-digit digs in both contests today.
• Simmons returns to the Holmes Center on Thursday, September 10 to host the Mount Holyoke Lyons at 7 p.m. for their home-opener.
