NEWTON, Mass. – Simmons field hockey (12-1, 6-0) extended its win-streak to nine games with a 5-0 shutout over Lasell University in a midweek Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Tuesday evening.
The Sharks controlled the game early on, firing four shots in the direction of Lasell goalkeeper Courtney Tello throughout the first quarter. Moments after entering the game with seconds remaining in the quarter, first-year
Piper Rickman knocked a rebound past Tello to put Simmons on the board.
It ignited the Shark offense. Halfway through the second period, senior
Sydney Gonyea connected with classmate
Anna Tedeschi for an insurance goal. Four minutes later Gonyea added to the Sharks lead in the 26
th minute to send Simmons into the break with a 3-0 lead.
When the teams returned to the field at the start of the second half, there was no let up to the Sharks offense. Sophomore
Lilly Taglieri and Gonyea connected with Tedeschi to extend the lead to four. With 10 minutes left in the contest, Tedeschi capped off the scoring with her third goal of the game on a pass from first-year
Hailey Brisson.

Haley Bright earned her sixth win of the season registering two saves.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
- First-year Piper Rickman recorded her first collegiate goal scoring the game's first goal in the waning seconds of the first quarter.
- Senior Anna Tedeschi registered three goals to give her a conference-leading 20 goals on the season.
- Sophomore Haley Bright improved to 6-0 on the season with her third shutout of the season.
