NEWTON, Mass. – Simmons volleyball's (6-9, 4-1 GNAC) four-match win streak came to halt following a 3-0 loss on the road at the hands of Lasell University (15-3, 7-0 GNAC) on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: Lasell 25, Simmons 23
The Sharks found themselves trailing by five, 20-15, late in the first set. But after third-year Head Coach Pat Helmas called his second timeout, momentum swung over to the Sharks bench with a 6-1 run to tie the set at 21 forcing the Lasers to call a timeout. Lasell answered and took the first set, 25-23.
SET 2: Lasell 25, Simmons 11
The Lasers kept their offense firing in the second set, building a 15-8 lead and they never looked back. Sophomore
Hannah Pridgeon led the Sharks' offense posting a .400 attack percentage, tallying six kills on 10 attempts with just two errors, while graduate senior Zoë Chatterton followed up with four kills.
SET 3: Lasell 25, Simmons 19
Lasell sealed the match, hitting .389 as a team in the third set to earn their seventh conference victory of the season. Pridgeon once again led the Sharks with three kills, while sophomore
Alicia Beatty paced the offense with three assists.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Hannah Pridgeon posted a .300 attack percentage on the night with 14 kills on 30 attempts and just five errors.
- Sophomore Carolina Rodriguez tallied 10 defensive digs.
- Junior Iliana Diaz notched two total blocks – one solo and one assisted.
