Volleyball Falls to Babson College in Three Sets

BOSTON – Simmons volleyball (2-7) dropped a non-conference, midweek match to Babson College (7-1) on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Babson 25, Simmons 19
The Sharks and Beavers battled back-and-forth for the majority of the first set. After junior Kate Petrosso tied the match at 17 with a kill late, the Beavers answered and pulled ahead with a 4-0 run to take a 21-17 lead never looked back.

Set 2: Babson 25, Simmons 16
The second set was another tight one with Simmons hanging in against tough Babson team. With the match all square at 11 midway through the set, the Beavers pulled ahead with a 5-1 run to take an 17-12 lead and force third year Head Coach Pat Helmas to call his second time out. But coming out of the timeout, Babson kept their offense firing to take the second set.

Set 3: Babson 25, Simmons 18
Simmons came out strong in the third set, taking a 5-3 lead following a kill by Petrosso. But Babson responded with a 7-1 run to pull ahead 10-6, forcing the Sharks to call their first timeout of the set.

While Simmons chipped away at the deficit, Babson remained steady and maintained its lead, building themselves and eight point, 20-12, cushion late. The Beavers were able to hold on for their seventh win the season.
