Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Simmons volleyball fell to non-conference UMass Dartmouth, 3-1, on the road Thursday evening.
The Corsairs took an early 1-0 match lead, winning he first set, 25-23, but the Sharks answered and tied up the match with a come-back win the second set. Facing a chance to go down two sets early, trailing 24-20, the Sharks orchestrated their comeback.
Sophomore
Alicia Beatty registered back-to-back aces to pull Simmons to within one point,24-23, and force UMass Dartmouth to call a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, sophomore
Hannah Pridgeon knotted up the set with a kill before pulling ahead, 25-24, going up for a block with senior
Meghan Doxsee. Simmons took the set, 26-24, following a UMass Darmtouth miscue.
However, the Corsairs responded and re-gained the match lead, taking the third set, 25-18. With momentum on their side, the Corsairs closed out the match taking the final set, 25-16 to earn the win.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
- Graduate senior April Beatty came two kills shy of a triple-double, tallying 17 digs with 13 assists and eight kills.
- Graduate senior Zoë Chatterton led the Simmons offense with 14 kills and three block assists.
- Senior Meghan Doxsee registered a career single-game high nine total blocks, which included tying a single-game best with six block assists.
- Sophomore Hannah Pridgeon recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 15 digs.
- Sophomore Carolina Rodriguez also tied a career single-game high tallying 25 digs.

Simmons returns to the hard-court next Saturday, September 28 when they open GNAC play, traveling to Northfield, Vermont for a tri-match against Norwich University (11 a.m.) and Albertus Magnus College (1 p.m.)
