WESTON, Mass. – Sophomore
Lilly Taglieri registered her first collegiate career hat trick to lead Simmons field hockey (7-1, 3-0 GNAC) to a 6-0 victory against Regis College (2-4, 1-2 GNAC) in rainy conditions on Saturday morning.
Taglieri opened and closed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match-up with book-end goals. The western Massachusetts gave the Sharks a one-goal lead midway through the first quarter.

Sydney Gonyea connected with fellow classmate
Anna Tedeschi to give Simmons the two-goal cushion and send the Sharks into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Returning to the field at the start of the third quarter, the Simmons offense was not backing down. Senior
Hannah Groves increased the lead to three in the 35
th minute before Taglieri recorded her second goal of the game four minutes later.
Just before the third quarter ended, Gonyea added a goal to her stat line to put the Sharks up 5-0 heading into the final 15 minutes of play. With under nine minutes to play in the contest Taglieri found the back of the cage for her third goal and sealed sophomore
Haley Bright's fourth win of the season.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Lilly Taglieri eclipsed her career single-game high, recording her first hat trick of her collegiate career scoring three goals.
- Senior forward Sydney Gonyea registered a goal and an assist for the third straight game.
- Senior forward Anna Tedeschi notched her conference-leading 10th goal of the season in the 19th minute.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Haley Bright improved to 4-0 on the season and picked up her second straight shutout registering two saves.
GAME NOTES:
- It was the Sharks second straight shutout and third time this season they have shutout an opponent.
