Hailey Brisson registers first collegiate career hat trick to help Simmons field hockey (8-1) win their fourth straight game with an 8-2 win over non-conference UMass Dartmouth (3-7) on Wednesday evening.

Sydney Gonyea to give Simmons the 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, first-year
Hailey Brisson knocked a pass from junior
Zoe Schmaling into the back of cage to increase the lead to two.
Moments later, Brisson scored the eventual game-winner in the ninth minute of the contest and the Sharks were off to races. Just before closing out the first half, senior
Anna Tedeschi sent the Sharks into break with a four-goal lead.
When the teams returned to the field at the start of the second half, Gonyea added her second goal of the game two minutes in to the third quarter. UMass Dartmouth finally broke up the shutout in the 34
th minute, but Brisson answered with her third goal of the game in the 40
th minute to send the Sharks into the final stanza with a 6-1 lead.
A minute after the four quarter began, sophomore
Katy Paveglio knocked in her second goal of the season to extend the lead to six. After the Corsairs scored their second goal of the game with 10 minutes remaining, first-year
Kaitlyn Frye connected with Tedeschi to cap of the scoring.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
- First-year Hailey Brisson registered her first collegiate career hat trick tallying three goals.
- Seniors Anna Tedeschi and Sydney Gonyea both recorded two goals to stay on top of the GNAC leaders with 14 and 13 goals, respectively.
- First-year goalkeeper Jamila Mohamed earned her second win of the season, keeping the Corsairs off the scoreboard in 30 minutes.
