Soccer's Comeback Bid Falls Short in Loss to Elms

BRIGHTON, Mass. - Simmons soccer falls to 0-2 on the campaign despite a stellar second half on a bright Saturday afternoon at Daly Field.

The Sharks fell behind early as the Blazers came out with energy, taking advantage of the early miscues. By the 22nd minute Simmons found themselves in a 0-2 hole thanks to a pair of goals by Elms forward Emily Basua.

After a couple of chances to get on the board near the end of the first half, the sharks still found themselves in a 2-0 hole as they made their way into the locker room. In the second half, Simmons found their energy, and along with that, the back of the net. Junior Emma McEwan got the Sharks on the board thanks to an excellent feed by Stephanie Mendoza.

While Simmons continued to pressure the Elms defense by dominating the time of possession in the second half as well as out-shooting the Blazers 12-2, they could not find the tying goal. With that, they fell just short, falling 2-1 to Elms college.
