Box Score BRIGHTON, Mass. - The Sharks grabbed their first win of the season in a thriller vs USJ under the lights at Daly Field on Wednesday night.
The scoring was kept to a minimum in the first half as both sides engaged in a defensive battle, until the 39th minute when graduate senior
Cerys Balmer netted her second goal of the year off a free kick. The Sharks came out with energy and were able to capitalize off it, taking that 1-0 lead into the locker room at half.
Just 14 minutes into the second half, the Blue Jays were able to tie it up on their only on target shot of the night, a testament to the lockdown defense displayed by the Sharks all night long. The 1-1 tie didn't last long, as in the 77th minute first year Eleni Marquez da Costa was able to knock home a rebound off a laser shot from Graduate senior
Cerys Balmer, and the Sharks were back in front.
The Simmons defense held strong as when the 90th minute rolled around, it was time to celebrate on Daly Field as the Sharks grabbed their first win of the 2024 campaign.
