Terriers Survive Sharks' Gritty Fourth Quarter

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Simmons University Field Hockey team took a break from league play to face the Terriers of Thomas College. Depsite a late comeback from the Sharks, the Terriers came away with the 3-2 win.

How It Happened
  • Thomas and Simmons each exchanged a shot to open up the game, but it was the Terriers who knocked in the first tally of the afternoon to lead 1-0 after the opening quarter. 
  • The home added two more in the second to widen the gap to 3-0 at halftime.
  • After a scoreless third quarter, Avery Allaire put the Sharks on the board after a pass from Lilly Taglieri (3-1) to kick off the final frame. Continuing to battle, Penelope Long made it a one-score game with just under two minutes to go in regulation thanks to a feed from Allaire (3-2). Thomas held on for the final minute of the period to grab the narrow win.

  • In four of the past five games, Avery Allaire has dished out one assist.
  • Hailey Brisson registered her second defensive save of the season.
  • The Sharks return to Daly Field on October 15 to host New England College at 5 p.m. in conference action.
