Sharks Squash Pilgrims' Perfect GNAC Record In Shootouts

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Field Hockey welcomed the Pilgrims of New England College (NEC) to Daly Field this evening in conference action. The game went into shootouts where the Sharks prevailed, 2-1.

How It Happened
  • Starting keeper Haley Bright did not allow anything through for the first three periods amid 10 saves for the junior.
  • Just over three minutes into the fourth, the Pilgrims were granted a penalty stroke in which they connected on, to lead, 1-0. Not shying away, the Sharks continued to fight and after two penalty corners, the Sharks earned a penalty stroke in the 56th minute. Despite a goalie change to switch to a Pilgrims' six footer, Lilly Taglieri buried in the equalizer (1-1).
  • Three shots were taken by both sides in the first and second overtimes but shootouts were required to decide the victor.
  • After a continued stellar performance in the cage from Bright, the Sharks got the last day as Hailey Brisson booked the game-winner.
