CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Simmons University Volleyball team played in the first of three Saturday games against the Elms College Blazers on their home turf in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competition. The Sharks came out of Picknelly Arena with a hard fought, 3-0 win over the Blazers.

How It Happened

• Early in the opening frame, both sides traded short scoring runs to swing the pendulum. Then, Hannah Pridgeon slammed down the final two kills for Simmons to claim the 25-21 win.
• Simmons jumped out in front to a 7-1 advantage in the next frame to give the Sharks a comfortable lead. Elms tried to rally, but the Sharks were too far ahead en route to the 25-15 win.
• The Sharks started off hot once again with a 5-0 surge before the home team climbed within one point midway through the set. However, the Sharks did not back down and closed it out in the 25-20 win.

• Iliana Diaz has registered six kills in two straight games.
• The Sharks have a brief lay off before traveling to Waltham, Mass. to play the Brandeis College Judges on Thursday, October 23.
