BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Field Hockey squared off against the Bulldogs of Dean College today at Daly Field where Dean was able to hold off the Sharks, 2-1.

How It Happened

• The Sharks earned a trio of penalty corners in the first quarter to apply pressure to the Bulldog defense. Then, on the third corner, Ainslee Shrout laced in a shot from the far side of the field, finding Alex Wemple who redirected the ball past the keeper to give Simmons the 1-0 edge.
• Right before halftime, Dean knocked in the equalizer to lock it up at 1-1 at the break.
• In the third, the visitors rocketed in a long shot into the cage to take the lead (2-1) before holding on for the narrow victory.

Beyond The Box Score

• Rookie Alex Wemple recorded her first goal of her collegiate career. 
• Before this evening's game, the Sharks honored their two seniors: Ainslee Shrout and Zoe Schmaling. 
• The Sharks wrap up regular-season play on Wednesday, October 29 as they host the Fitchburg State Falcons at 5 p.m. on Daly Field.
