Rodriguez Reaches 1,000 Career Digs In Tri-Match Sweep

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball Team hosted a tri-match this morning at the Holmes Center, taking on both the Norwich University Cadets and the Albertus Magnus Falcons. The Sharks dominated all three sets in both matches, sweeping their opponents 3-0.
  
Simmons vs. Norwich
  • Strong serving from Hannah Pridgeon and Emily Ibarra gave Simmons an early edge, while Kira Buonopane and Iliana Diaz powered the offense with multiple kills. The Sharks momentum carried them through as they closed the first set  25-14 over Norwich.
  • The Sharks and the Cadets went back and forth early before the Sharks took control behind a dominant serving run from Pridgeon, who tallied multiple aces and set up key kills from Diaz, Mia LeBrun, and Buonopane. Simmons pulled away to take the set, 25-13,leading the match 2-0.
  • Simmons wasted no time with a fast start behind Keagan Serverius, who fueled an 8-0 run with strong serving and key setups for Pridgeon and Diaz. The Sharks kept the pressure on with kills from LeBrun and Buonopane, before Addison Evans finished the set with back-to-back aces. Completing the sweep by a score of 25-8 in the third and final set.

  • In the opening set, Simmons pulled ahead thanks to Evans and Diaz, who combined strong kills and steady serving for the 25-17 win.
  • Simmons kept the momentum rolling as Pridgeon and Diaz powered the attack, while Evans added powerful hits and a pair of aces, closing it out 25-18 to go up 2-0 in the match.
  • Simmons came out strong taking control of the final set as Ibarra led with multiple kills and aces, supported by Evans, Buonopane, and Pridgeon. Despite a few late errors from both teams, the Sharks never let up, ending with a 25-13 win.

  • Hannah Pridgeon had a career-high of nine aces this morning.
  • Carolina Rodriguez hit her 1000th dig against Albertus Magnus.
  • The Sharks return to Holmes to take on the  University of Saint Joseph's Blue Jays on October 30.
