Raiders Conquer Sharks In GNAC Play

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball welcomed the Raiders of Rivier to the Holmes Center this evening for conference play. The Raiders came out on top, 3-0.

How It Happened
  • The Sharks bolted out ahead thanks to spectacular serving from Kira Buonopane to put the home team ahead, 11-4. However, the Raiders did not back down, beginning to chip away and eventually locking up the score at 20-all. From there, Rivier pulled away, 25-22.
  • After trading shots early, the Raiders found themselves up, 20-10 before the Sharks cut the deficit to game-point (20-24). The Sharks battled and extended the frame, but were edged out by a score of 28-26.
  • Down, 7-3, Simmons scored five straight to take the 8-7 lead. The Raiders capitalized off of a 6-1 run to widen the gap to 13-9 before closing it out, 25-14.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Carolina Rodriguez has now surpassed 200 digs on the season (210).
  • The Sharks remain home for their next match on Thursday, October 9 as they will host the Wheaton College Lyons.
