NASHUA, N.H. – The Simmons University Field Hockey team set their sights up north to take on the Rivier University Raiders this evening in conference play. The Sharks needed just 49 seconds in overtime to earn the 2-1 victory.

How It Happened

• Lilly Taglieri chipped in a penalty stroke in the 21st minute to put the Sharks on top, 1-0. The Sharks nearly extended their lead with a pair of close shots late, but the Raiders were able to limit the damage going into halftime.
• After a scoreless third where both sides took two shots, the Raiders began to press offensively late in the fourth quarter. Rivier was able to sneak a shot into the goal after a penalty corner to lock up the score at 1-1 to force overtime.
• Early in overtime, Taglieri intercepted a Raider pass at midfield and dribbled it up to the circle before ripping in a shot that was redirected thanks to Katy Paveglio who knocked in the game-winner in dramatic fashion, 2-1.

Beyond The Box Score

• Lilly Taglieri is a perfect 6-6 in so far in her collegiate career in penalty strokes. 
• This marks Katy Paveglio's third game-winning goal of her career.
• Simmons stays on the road as they travel up to Waterville, Maine to play the Thomas College Terriers on Saturday, October 11.
