Softball Runs Into Tough Rhode Island Team; Drops Two

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons softball dropped Saturday afternoon's twin-billing to non-conference Rhode Island College at Daly Field.
 
GAME 1: RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 6, SIMMONS 0
The Shark bats struggled offensively in game one, managing only three hits during the game. Junior pitcher Piper Kinney took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over four innings, with two strikeouts and four walks

GAME 2: RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 9, SIMMONS 1
In the second game of their doubleheader on March 15, 2025, the Simmons University softball team suffered a 9-1 defeat against Rhode Island College at Daly Field in Brighton, Massachusetts.

The Sharks faced an early deficit, conceding four runs in the first inning. Simmons responded in the bottom of the first when senior outfielder Zoe Soule's sacrifice fly allowed sophomore infielder Emily Deleault to advance to third base, scoring senior Raya Anderson. However, this would be Simmons' only run of the game.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
  • First-year Zoe Soule went 2-3 with an RBI on the day.
  • Sophomore Lucy Randa picked up her first collegiate base-hit with a pinch-hit single in game one.
UP NEXT
Simmons looks to snap a four-game skid, returning to the diamond on Saturday, March 22 against non-conference Suffolk University. First pitch at noon.
