BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons softball dropped Sunday afternoon's matinee to Wentworth Institute of Technology in a non-conference doubleheader.
 
GAME 1: Wentworth 14, Simmons 6
Wentworth took an early lead with a two-run triple by Lefkowski, followed by an RBI single from Carlson, making it 3-0. Simmons responded in the bottom half; a triple by Berdeen and subsequent plays leveled the score at 3-3.

An inning later both teams added a run each, maintaining a tie at 4-4, before the Leopards broke the game open in the fifth.

GAME 2: Wentworth 9, Simmons 0
Wentworth's Jess Rowe hit a two-run triple, followed by a Simmons' defensive error, leading to a 3-0 deficit. They added to their lead in the third inning following a triple off the bat of Lexi Lefkowski to increase the lead to 4-0, before breaking the game open in the fifth.
 
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

• Senior Leah Berdeen went four-for-six with a triple and an RBI.
• Junior Emery Kreidel-Reimer went two-for-three with a run scored in game one.
• Senior Raya Anderson along with juniors Teagan Buckley, Trinity Payne and Emily Deleault each recorded a base-hit.
