HENNIKER, N.H. – Junior right-hander
Piper Kinney collected her 400
th career strikeout as Simmons softball (13-19) spit Saturday afternoon's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against New England College (11-19).
GAME 1: SIMMONS 8, NEW ENGLAND 2
Kinney delivered a standout performance, pitching a complete game and allowing just two runs on two hits. She also contributed offensively with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
Offensively, the Sharks were led by junior outfielder
Teagan Buckley, who went 2-for-3 with five RBIs, including a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Junior shortstop
Emily Deleault added three hits and scored twice, while senior centerfielder
Raya Anderson contributed two hits and two runs.
The Sharks took an early lead in the first inning and extended it with a three-run fourth inning, highlighted by Buckley's home run. They added three more runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to seal the victory.
GAME 2: NEW ENGLAND 8, SIMMONS 6
The Sharks started game two strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. Junior shortstop
Emily Deleault played a pivotal role, delivering an RBI double in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth, contributing to the team's early advantage.
Junior
Emma Soule added an RBI single in the fifth, narrowing the gap to 8–6. However, the Sharks couldn't capitalize further, leaving runners stranded in the final innings.

Ally Hyde took the loss, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits. Junior right-hander
Piper Kinney provided 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, keeping the game within reach.
