Seahawks Soar Past Sharks At Holmes

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball returned to the Holmes Center to host the Salve Regina Seahawks this evening where the visitors bested the Sharks, 3-0.

How It Happened
  • Salve Regina came out of the gates hot, going on top, 4-0. However, the Sharks slowly began to chip away and thanks to a Hannah Pridgeon ace, the home team trailed by just one (9-8). The visitors utilized short runs to build on their advantage, but Simmons continued to rise to the occasion by trimming the Seahawks' lead multiple times but were unable to overcome, 25-21.
  • Simmons bounced back in a big way early in the second as that earned a 8-2 lead. Salve however, locked up the score at 15-all before both sides went shot for shot for the duration. Extra points were needed but the Seahawks edged the Sharks, 27-25.
  • In the final frame, the visitors limited the Sharks' offense en route to the sweep with the 25-12 win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Hannah Pridgeon recorded her second highest number of kills on the young season tonight with 14.
  • For the second time this season, Carolina Rodriguez reached double-digit digs in just three sets.
  • The Sharks head out to Connecticut this weekend for a trimatch against their hosts, Mitchell as well as the Regis College Pride on Saturday, September 13.
