Blue Jays Defend Nest From Sharks

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Simmons University Field Hockey opened up conference play today on the road against the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) where the home team defeated the Sharks, 2-0.

How It Happened
  • The Sharks held the penalty corner edge in the first quarter, but were held scoreless in the frame.
  • USJ got on the board midway through the second to lead 1-0 at halftime.
  • Simmons came out of the break strong offensively, taking seven shots in the third but the Blue Jays did not let the ball get into the back of the cage. However, the home team added to their tally with 31 seconds left to go on top, 2-0.
  • Fourteen total shots were put up in the fourth quarter, but neither team was able to change the scoreboard in in the Blue Jays' narrow win over the Sharks.

  • The Sharks recorded their highest number of shots in today's game on the season.
  • Simmons returns to Daly Field to play the Clark University Cougars on Wednesday, September 17 at 5 p.m.
