Monks Fend Off Sharks, 1-0

STANDISH, Maine – Simmons University Soccer went up Maine today for a conference tilt against the Monks of Saint Joseph's College (SJC) where the Monks claimed the narrow 1-0 win over the Sharks.

How It Happened
  • The Monks used their home field to their advantage in the first, controlling the tempo offensively to net a goal in the 19th minute. SJC maintained the 1-0 edge at the break.
  • Keeper Lauren Sanchez scooped up all three shots the Monks took in the second half to keep the Sharks in contention, but SJC came out with the one-goal win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Lauren Sanchez registered her second straight game with six saves in net.
  • The Sharks hit the road once again on Saturday, September 20 for a 3:30 p.m. game against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons.
