BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball returned to action after a week layoff as they hosted the Keene State University Owls in non-conference play where the Owls defeated the Sharks, 3-1.

How It Happened

• Simmons trailed by just one (14-13), but the Owls strung together five straight tallies to come away with the 25-15 first set win.
• The Sharks started off hot, opening the second frame, 4-0, but the visitors quickly matched the scoreboard. Simmons was able to record three straight kills to keep the scoreboard tight, but Keene closed it out late to go on top, 2-0.
• A 14-3 dominance by the Sharks controlled the tempo in a must win set three. The home team continued to set the tone to make it 2-1 after the 25-19 win.
• In the fourth, Keene went ahead, 17-10, but the Sharks continued to fight, scoring five straight to make it a three-point game. However, the Owls used a Shark error as well as a pair of aces to seal the deal (25-19).

Beyond The Box Score

• Kira Buonopane registered a career-high seven total blocks.
• Abby Sousa matched her season-high with 27 assists tonight.
• The Sharks hit the road for their next match as they travel to Franklin, Mass. to play conference foe Dean College.
