Simmons University

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – In a Friday night Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest, Simmons University Volleyball ventured up to the Green Mountain State to take on the Cadets of Norwich University. The Sharks had a successful business trip, returning to Boston with a 3-0 sweep to improve to 12-9 overall and 8-2 in GNAC play.

How It Happened

• Trailing by five early, the Sharks regrouped to tie the set at 13-all. Norwich answered quickly to regain a slim lead at 14-13, but Simmons took control from there to claim the opening set, 25-20.
• Simmons jumped out to a 16-7 advantage in the second set. The Cadets cut the deficit to five on multiple occasions, but the Sharks held on to take the set, 25-18, and go up 2-0.
• After opening the third set with an 8-2 run, capped by back-to-back service aces from Carolina Rodriguez, Simmons controlled the pace to close out the sweep with another 25-18 victory.

Beyond The Box Score

• Gabrielle Pattie recorded a career-high 12 digs, while Sophie Beninati matched her career high with 12 digs.
• Simmons has now won four consecutive matches against Norwich, sweeping the Cadets in all four contests.
• The Sharks return to their home court on Wednesday, October 28, to host non-conference opponent UMass Boston at 7 p.m.
