Sharks Surge Past Blazers, 11-0

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Simmons University Field Hockey Team made it two wins in a row as the Sharks defeated the visiting Elms College Blazers, 11-0, this evening.

How It Happened
  • Simmons came out firing, generating several early chances before Hailey Brisson tapped in a pass from Lilly Taglieri to open the scoring (1-0). Ava Kahl followed with a goal of her own before Taglieri connected with Nora Desrosiers to make it 3-0 midway through the first quarter. In the final seconds of the period, Clio Cook-Sharp found the back of the cage to send the Sharks into the second quarter with a 4-0 advantage.
  • The Sharks continued to dominate offensively as Kaitlyn Frye's tally made it 5-0. Cook-Sharp then added her second goal of the game off an Elaina Wilkey assist to push the lead to 6-0. First-year Madyson Reed rounded out the first-half scoring with a solo effort as Simmons carried a 7-0 lead into halftime.
  • Wilkey added a goal of her own early in the third quarter for the Sharks' eighth tally before Reed set up Piper Rickman to make it 9-0. In the closing minutes of the quarter, Elms was awarded a penalty stroke, but goalkeeper Sam Buck stepped up with a tremendous save to keep the Blazers off the scoreboard.
  • In the fourth quarter, Olivia Minotti buried a pass from Cook-Sharp to extend the lead to 10-0 before Emma Fissel netted her first collegiate goal to cap the scoring and secure the 11-0 victory.
