WORCESTER, Mass. – The Simmons University Swimming and Diving team closed out the final day of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships with multiple podium finishes and a relay title, solidifying a fourth-place team finish with 549 points.
Overall, Norwich claimed the GNAC crown with over 1,000 points, followed by the Blue Jays from the University of Saint Joseph in second place, and the Pride from Regis College in third with 571 points.
By the Numbers
- Carli Quinlan delivered another standout performance in the 100 yard freestyle, earning silver with a time of 53.16, her first podium finish of the night.
- Bee Eckels added a pair of top-three finishes, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 50 yard breaststroke (33.47) and a silver in the 100 IM (1:04.83).
- Julia Long secured fourth place in the 50 breaststroke (34.33) and added valuable points with a fifth-place finish in the 100 IM (1:11.02).
- Laura Luthi orchestrated a strong distance swim in the 1650 yard freestyle, finishing second overall in 19:51.66. She also added a bronze to her name with a third place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.42.
- The Sharks captured a gold medal relay championship in the 400 yard medley relay. Luthi (back), Long (breast), Quinlan (fly), and Eckels (free) combined for a winning time of 4:16.65, securing 40 points for Simmons.
