Sharks Split With Blue Jays On Senior Day

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Softball welcomed the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Blue Jays today as the Sharks celebrated Senior Days in between games. The Sharks took game one by a score of 6-3 and dropped game two by a score of 10-7.

Game One
  • Senior Emma Soule tripled to right center field to take an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Still in the inning, Soule came across the plate to make it 3-0.
  • USJ scored once in the fourth to cut the deficit to two runs.
  • With two ducks on the pond in the home half of the sixth inning, Zoe Soule laced a single through the left side to score Emily Deleault (4-1). Shortly after, Nevaeh Eth singled to left center to plate another, before Teagan Buckley singled up the middle to make it a 6-1 ball game.
  • Completing the game in the circle was Piper Kinney who only gave up four hits in the win.
Game Two
  • The Blue Jays struck first in the first inning to go on top, 2-0. Kinney took advantage of a Blue Jay throwing error to split the difference in the bottom of the frame (2-1).
  • Through the following two innings, the visitors widened the gap to 6-1, but the Sharks tacked on three in the third to bring the scoreboard to 6-4 thanks to an Emery Kreidel-Reimer double.
  • USJ continued to put together the pieces offensively and stretched their lead to 10-5 after five.
  • Simmons continued to chip away but were unable to pull ahead in the 10-7 loss.
