PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – Captains Michaline Becknell and Ivy Maynard highlighted the weekend for Simmons University Rowing, earning a silver medal in the Varsity 2x Grand Final at the historic Dad Vail Regatta on the Cooper River.
Becknell and Maynard crossed the finish line in 8:39.200 to claim second place, finishing just four seconds behind first-place Long Island. Loyola (Md.) rounded out the top three, followed by Oklahoma City, William & Mary, and Lafayette.
The duo advanced through the field with a strong showing throughout the weekend. In the time trial, Becknell and Maynard posted a time of 8:12.715 to secure a spot in the semifinals. The pair then won their semifinal race out of lane three to comfortably advance to Sunday morning's Grand Final.
Sonia Provost competed in the Varsity 1x, placing fifth in the semifinal round. Provost also served as coxswain for the Varsity 4+ boat alongside Alex Mills, Aria Hoover, Maddie Herdlein, and Sam Ladner. The crew earned a sixth-place finish in the semifinals.
