NEWPORT, R.I. – Simmons University Field Hockey traveled to the ocean state today to play the Seahawks of Salve Regina University. The Sharks scored first but the home team added two in the fourth quarter to take the 3-1 win.

How It Happened

• Following a Simmons penalty corner, Hailey Brisson found Kaitlyn Frye, who fired a shot past the goalkeeper to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the opening quarter. Goalkeeper Haley Bright made three saves in the frame to preserve the advantage.
• Salve Regina opened the second quarter with sustained pressure before eventually finding the equalizer, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
• Bright continued her strong play in the third quarter, making five saves on six shots faced to keep the score even heading into the final period.
• Simmons nearly regained the lead early in the fourth, but the Seahawk goalkeeper came up with a key save. Salve Regina broke through with the go-ahead goal with five minutes remaining before adding an insurance marker two minutes later to secure the win.
