WORCESTER, Mass. – Simmons University Field Hockey traveled to battle the Clark University Cougars this evening where the home team was able to score in the final minutes to edge the Sharks, 3-2.

How It Happened
  • Each side traded a handful of shots in the opening frame, but neither the Sharks or Cougars were able to find the back fo the net to keep it scoreless.
  • After their initial shot was saved, the Cougars broke through in the first minute of the second period to lead, 1-0. The Sharks roared right back, however, firing off three shots before Lilly Taglieri roped in the equalizer (1-1) midway through the frame.
  • Scoring early once again, Clark took the lead two minutes after halftime (2-1), followed by a staggering 10 saves from keeper Haley Bright to prevent further damage. Simmons rattled off five shots in the third but were unable to knot up the scoreboard.
  • In the 55th minute, Clio Cook-Sharp found Alex Wemple who tied up the game at 2-2. However, with just under two minutes to go in regulation, the home team added another tally to their side to escape with the narrow win.
